Dirty Dozen Brass Band
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, formed in 1977, revolutionized the New Orleans brass band style by incorporating funk and bebop into the traditional New Orleans style, and has been a major influence on the majority of New Orleans brass bands since. The band has performed live and made studio albums with countless luminaries ranging from Dr. John, Dizzy Gillespie, Branford Marsalis, Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, Widespread Panic and DJ Logic. The band has recently inspired a resurgence of New Orleans brass band music around the entire country.
